Lighthouse Beach
30 Main St, Chatham, MA 02633
Located across the street from iconic Chatham Light, Lighthouse Beach ranks among the top attractions for visitors to the Cape. Be sure to pay attention to the signs and warnings as the water currents are very strong and dangerous even for experienced swimmers. Sections of the beach do not allow swimming at all and there are no lifeguards. There’s usually plenty of room to walk, relax or take in the views. Chatham light is an active lighthouse in front of the Coast Guard station that patrols the area. Although usually closed to the public, you can sometimes get a tour of the lighthouse in the summer if you’re lucky.
There is no long-term parking lot, only a row of 30-minute spots lining the overlook, so plan a drop-off if you want to spend the day on the beach. Sections of nearby Bridge street allow parking on the shoulder with a valid Chatham beach parking pass. Lighthouse Beach is also a short 15 minute walk from the shops and restaurants of Main Street if you’re exploring the area by foot.
